Well, would you believe it, the first day of Summer, the first day of June and what do we have the first day of sun!!!, and what a day it’s been.
Started off pretty early as finishing off brides and bridesmaids bouquets, buttonholes corsages and all the other ceremony flowers for a couple of weddings today, making sure everything is as planned.
Had to pop off to the market to top up on some flowers for the shop and some other ancillary items needed for funerals next week. Then back to the shop and drop everything off, then pick up the first wedding flowers to be dropped off at this lovely Mews in Kemp Town where the Bride and Bridesmaids were making their final preparations. Rang the bell and we were greeted with shrieks of delight as they saw the flowers in their transport boxes, which bought a tear to my eyes as they were so happy with everything. Next stop was the wedding venue, getting everything placed to look its best and finally to their chosen eatery in St James’s Street, a delightful place where the staff took the flowers for placing later in the day.
It was then back to the shop to gather up the deliveries all across the City including one right in the Churchill Square shopping centre, that is notoriously hard to get to at this time of year, but another girls day was made up as she received the bouquet from an admirer. Swung back to the shop to gather up the second wedding bouquet as that had to be at the Brides house shortly. Took this along with the buttonholes and the groom was going to pick up the other flowers on route, and so happy when the last of the wedding flowers were gone as my panics were going too as it is oh so stressful.
Mid afternoon now and last of the afternoons flowers have been created and look lovely, so route worked out and more happy people as surprisingly, everyone was in…….on a hot sunny Saturday, so it was certainly shinning on us today. Even got to see the morning bride outside the church having photos and generally enjoying the day…….phew, they looked smashing and so so beautiful.
Back to the shop and a cleanup and preparation for Monday, plus look after the customers as they come in.
It’s gone well today, everything seemed to go like clockwork and maybe the sun had worked its magic, but smiling faces everywhere does make you feel good.
